Because it's there
For this project, which has me walking the length of every street on the Island of Montreal, I was inspired by reading about William Helmreich who walked around every block in NYC. It took him four years and he covered six thousand miles. And then he wrote a book.
I already was in the habit of walking about five kilometres every day, since I don't drive, so this seemed like a good way to give my daily walks, which were becoming kind of samey, a little variety.
Every day when I come home from a walk, I use my trusty purple highlighter to record on the map the territory I've covered. This blog is meant to chronicle the highlights of my marathon walking project. Ron, my significant other, predicts it will take me three years. I say two years tops. We shall see.
